Hey everyone. Just thought I'd inform you of some things coming up! First off is the parent meeting. We will be having one right after school on next wednesday (1/19). I hope that you remembered that we were going to do the meetings right after school. I hope that it is okay with all of you, most of all though, so let me know if you can't make it.
We are going to the Ogden nature center on the 31st of this month and we need drivers. Also, we need to have anyone that needs lunches to sign up for school lunche outside my room, by the 21st. Keep an eye out for it, on the glass box net tues. The driver sign up is there too.
We are going to momix next tuesday. There is a sign up for driving to that too.
Thanks for everything you have all done.
I am submitting grades this week and we will have them to you soon.

Alright, now, let's get back into this thing again. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday...if it was anything like mine, it was absolutely a dream. First off, a heartfelt thank you to all of you for the wonderfully OVER THE TOP presents which you presented to me on the day before the break...absolutely ridiculous how nice you all are to me! A thank you goes out to all of you for the help that you gave to the class before the break too. I'm quite excited to be coming back tomorrow and get back into having a blast with those kids. We are jumping right back into the grind of schoolwork again! I'm so proud of the kids for doing such an amazing job turning assignments in on time. You have all been such a HUGE support system for that to occur. We will be carrying on with multiplication for third grade math. PLEASE have your kids do a ton of playing multiplication games online, if they are in third grade. Multiplication.com is a good place to start. Just do a search for "multiplication flash games" and tons of stuff will pop right up. Spelling will look different from here on out. Writing will be more involved and with many different styles! We will be doing a few field trips this month too. Dinosaurs are going to be studied, in science...so ready for this. I want to take them up to the museum of natural history and use some of my connections up there! Thrid/fourth grade rock ensemble will be going EVERY Friday from here on out. Please remind the kids, if they want to stay in the group, they have to stay on top of their work. We are going to have some really fun stuff for that group to do! We are going to be working pretty hard on completing the songs that we need to record for our class time capsule...and our trip to a recording studio to record it. Reading groups will have some small changes too. Don't forget to check if you have snack and if you have snack center. The list is in the room. Thanks again to all of you for being so awesome! Let's do the rest of this year, like it was meant to be done.

Hello everyone! I am happy to announce that this is the last week before our big break! So exciting. Let me start out by telling you how grateful I am for all of you. Thank you for supporting your children, the way that you all do. Thank you for supporting me and the school, the way that you all do. Please keep it up! Also, if you ever have an issue or anything you would like to tell me, please feel free to come and talk to me any time. I do get a bit busy, after school, however, it doesn't mean that I don't think that you (or your issue) is important. I hope that you all would feel like you could talk to me about anything. Communicating effectively is the way that the OC likes to do stuff. We like to promote problem solving by communicating with whoever it is that we have an issue with...this sets a good example for the kids too! I am excited to have this last week. It will be a blast. We will have a lot of party stuff going on and much learning still. For the party stuff, I told the kids that they need to be completed with every bit of work
that has been assigned up to the date that we are on. Please help
your student get caught up, by checking to see what they have due still. We will be making calls home to tell you, this week, too. I would like to challenge all of you to take a step back, at anytime in my class, and look for learning happening. If you are having a hard time finding it, let me know. I will be more than happy to help you find it. This is one of the most important aspects in teaching. Is there learning going on? If there isn't, then I need to change what I am doing. Constant assessing and scrutinizing are how I need to direct my classroom environment, to best meet the needs of all the
different learners in my class. I am so impressed with my class.
All of the kids are so talented and intelligent in their own special ways.
-On Friday, we will have a celebratory breakfast. Look for a sign up sheet outside my class.

Hello everybody! Sorry this is later than normal...well, first, I guess there would need to be a "normal" for me to have been accomplishing! Thank you all so much for everything you have been doing for the class. There is a lot of fun stuff that I have come up with, for the class, that I am super excited about. I am going to
have another addition to the choices, that will be a reading center.
The kids will be picking a smaller book from the classroom library and recording the entire book so that other students can then pick that book up and listen to another student read it aloud. From here on out, I will be sending the weekly calendar out on the blog. We are delving back into geometry this week, for 3rd grade math. Social studies is carrying on with the great project that my Tuesday PM co- opers have done SO much for. Thank you so much!!! This week, Jeanene Prince will be coming in to teach a short lesson for Social Studies. Science will be all about inventions this month.
-Don't forget that we have a parent meeting on the 16th...that's this Tuesday!!!! We are supposed to be starting at 6:00.
-We have a 3/4 rock ensemble starting up too. IF you have a child that may be interested in joining, I would love to have them...however, I have to set up some strict agreements about how I need the students to behave while they are in there. I need the kids to know that it is a privilege to be in music class and if any other area of school falls behind then they will be taken out of the class. For instance, if I have a student who comes into rock ensemble and hasn't finished their planner, for the week, then they will not be able to come to the meeting that week. I am super
excited about having the kids from 3/4 come in and play some stuff.
We will be meeting on Friday's from 10:00-10:45. If your student wants to come (or you want them to come) into the class, then they need to have access to the instrument that they want to play. To pull off a performance, with the ensemble, we need to have students doing as much outside playing as is possible. I will tell them what/ how to practice. Tell your students that they will need to be prepared to come to ensemble on Friday with an instrument that they want to play and some music that they would like to perform (in a performance later on!!!).
Thanks all,
Alex
