Hi everybody!

Here is what is happening this week.  We have a regular day, on Monday and Tuesday.  Wednesday is Hee Haw farms.

Thursday is a regular Thursday.  Friday is the big ol' Halloween shindig. We started literacy, in full force, this last week.  Thank you to all my AM co-opers, for being so flexible.  Thanks to my PM co- opers that helped with all the copying.  We are starting a new unit in 3rd grade math.  The unit in math is all about addition and subtraction story problems.  If you want to help them out, have them write you a story problem of the day, at home and help them come up with some new ways to looking at writing story problems.  These can be soooo much fun.  Sorry I didn't send out the choices from last week yet.  They will  be on the blog too.  We had a ton of fun science stuff the past few weeks.  I've really loved doing the science thing, from field trips to brine shrimp, to weather, to making cheese...so much fun.  Writing has been good too.  The kids should be finished up with their first draft of writing.  If they aren't, they should be working on it every day till they are done.

Social Studies is under way thanks to my three amazing PM co-opers! It is a great lesson and some great teaching that they have done, for this concept area so far.  Looking forward to the rest of the lessons.  We just finished our read aloud, of Roald Dahl's "The Witches."  It was a great book.  I had to really get my German accent on, to read it well.  I told the kids that there was a version of the movie out there, if you would like to rent it.  The movie is rated PG, however, I watched it and felt as though there was some stuff in it that was a bit too crazay, for all of the kid's.  It just seemed like it might be a bit freaky for ALL of the kids, but, I'm not sure how scary the kids are used to.  You could probably make a better judgement call on it than me.

-Hee Haw farms is from 9-1 on Wed.  I have the following people and # of belts for the kids:  Stephanie Stack (5), Brian Avery (3), Leslie King (5), Keri Sanders (3), me (5).  Yes, that's 21 kids total.  I still need 4 more belts to go.  I'm hoping that I can get someone else to help us out, either in our class, or someone else's class.  The only kids that are getting sack lunches are Evan and Anakin, too.  Everyone else will need to bring a home lunch.

-Halloween is a full day of craziness.  We have the costume parade starting out at 9:15.  After that, we have an open school for activities.  I am having a Halloween photo shoot and pass the pumpkin, in my room for the activity time.

-Thank you all who came to my house for the party!  It was a major blast to have you out.  Hope you and the kids had as much fun as we did.

-Last thing is, I need to challenge you all to see if you can take some pictures of the class when things are going on.  After you do that, send me the pictures and I will send them to John.  He is the master behind the blog.  By the way, there are going to be some podcast's on the blog very soon, if they aren't already there.
